My First Heat Wave

This week I was hot. And I didn’t like it very much. It started off on Sunday. We got up in the morning and played a little while and then I took my first nap. When I got up again my mom changed me into the clothes for the day and she put shorts and a t-shirt on me. It was then that I figured out something strange was going on because my mom never dresses me in shorts and a t-shirt. Daddy and I always tease her because she puts me in many layers and always makes sure I’m all cozy. But then she put these big socks on me so I thought maybe it was just a fashion statement. We went to the park after that so that I could take a ride in the swing and admire the view. (My park looks out over this big giant puddle that has boats in it.) I was glad I had my socks on for the park because it was a little breezy up on that hill. But when we got back to the house it just got hotter and hotter and hotter until finally when I went to bed I was miserable. Mommy and Daddy still made me wear pajamas that night, but at least my feet stuck out and they didn’t make me use a blanket. But still, I was too hot and it took me a long time to finally fall asleep. The next night was even hotter and even though they only made me wear a onesie that night I was still too hot to sleep. I rolled all around my crib trying to find a comfortable place to lie. I even tried creeping to the edge to see if I could push my way out with my head, but after awhile I forgot what I was doing and fell asleep. During the day they would open up a lot of windows which made it better until the one morning when there was this big huge noise that woke me up from my nap. Mom took me out to my friend Dylan’s house right after that and I saw this man standing on a big loud toy making holes in the sidewalk. It was SO loud I think it would have woken me up even if the window was closed, but I’m not sure. Anyway, I was happy when it cooled down again yesterday and I could wear the sweatshirt that Granddad Steve sent to me. It has bugs all over it, and makes me look super cool! (Thanks Granddad!) I hope that it doesn’t get that hot again anytime soon. I’ll even stop teasing mom for putting me in layers when it’s cold, now that I know it’s more comfortable to be in a lot of clothes rather than hot and have no clothes on at all!
